How the Tutorial is Organized

The Portable Document Format (PDF) is a destination file format. PDF files are typically created in some other application. What this means is that the author who is concerned with PDF accessibility will be confronted with one of two situations: A - Authors working with PDF files will either want to know how to make an existing PDF file as accessible as possible or B) Authors will want to know how to use some other software application, such as a word processor or desktop publishing application to generate an accessible PDF file from that application. This tutorial is divided into two primary sections.

Module 1 Working With an Existing PDF File provides a step-by-step approach for analyzing PDF files and making them accessible based upon that analysis.

Module 2 Working With Popular Applications to Create Accessible PDF Files provides examples of how to make accessible PDF files from a number of popular applications. Some of these are from Adobe, while others are from other vendors.
